Chapter 6 - THE TABLES TURN AND THE LAW STRIKES BACK

The double doors of the courtyard were thrown open with a resounding crash. Armed state troopers, led by Captain Sarah Miller—a longtime family friend and head of the state cyber-crimes division—poured into the venue, their boots pounding against the stone.
"Freeze! Nobody move!" Captain Miller’s voice echoed across the terrace. Her eyes scanned the chaotic scene: the terrified guests, the ruined wedding decor, the trembling six-year-old child clutching her father's coat, and the bride in her torn, ruined white gown trapped against the cliffside ledge.
Elena’s composure shattered completely. The aristocratic mask cracked down the center, revealing a desperate, cornered criminal. She lunged forward, her hands clawing toward the air. "It's a setup! He forged those documents! He's a monster!"
"Save it for the magistrate, Ms. Rostova," Captain Miller said sharply, striding forward with a pair of steel handcuffs gleaming in the estate lights. She gestured to two troopers, who flanked Elena immediately.
"You can't do this to me!" Elena screamed as the cold steel snapped around her wrists. "Do you know who my backers are? Do you know what kind of legal team—"
"I know that you just attempted corporate extortion, child endangerment, kidnapping conspiracy, and administration of controlled substances without a medical license," Captain Miller interrupted, reading her rights with chilling precision. "And considering you jammed emergency telecom frequencies during a federal security blackout, I'd say you're looking at a minimum of twenty-five years without parole. Take her away."
As the disgraced bride was dragged down the aisle—her designer veil dragging in the dirt, her pristine white dress stained with mud and failure—the courtyard erupted into a murmur of absolute shock. The illusion was gone. The monster had been dragged into the light.
Lucas didn't watch her leave. He knelt down instantly, scooping Lily into his arms and burying his face in her soft, curly hair.
"It's over, baby," Lucas choked out, his voice finally breaking, the adrenaline draining from his system leaving only raw, overwhelming relief. "Daddy's got you. You're safe. We're going home."

Lily wrapped her small arms tightly around his neck, burying her face in his shoulder. "Can we get ice cream, Daddy?" she whispered tearfully.
Lucas let out a ragged, watery laugh, pressing a fierce kiss to her forehead. "We can get all the ice cream in the world, sweetheart."
