Chapter 15 - The New Dawn at Moretti Manor

One month later, the crisp autumn chill of October gave way to the vibrant, golden hues of late November across the sweeping lawns of the Moretti estate.
The grand fountains sparkled in the morning sun, and the heavy iron gates stood open to welcome a very special visitor for the first time.
A comfortable black sedan pulled smoothly up the cobblestone drive and parked near the main entrance.
I hurried down the grand stone steps, opening the passenger door with a wide, radiant smile.
"Mom, careful with your step," I said affectionately, offering my arm as my mother carefully stepped out of the vehicle.
She looked healthier, stronger, and more vibrant than she had in years, her cheeks flushed with color and her eyes shining with relief.
"Oh, sweetheart, you don't need to baby me so much," my mother laughed softly, looking up in sheer awe at the towering architecture of the mansion.
"I still can't quite believe my daughter works in a place as magnificent as this."
"You live here now too, remember?" a deep, welcoming voice spoke from the doorway.
We both turned to see Luca walking down the steps, dressed impeccably in a charcoal-gray suit with his white shirt collar open at the neck.
He approached us with an easy, genuine grace, extending a warm hand toward my mother.
"Mrs. Collins, it is an absolute honor to finally meet you," Luca said warmly, shaking her hand with respectful deference.
"Thank you for giving your daughter permission to bring her remarkable talents to our estate."
My mother beamed with pride, shaking his hand firmly.
"Thank you, Mr. Moretti, for taking such wonderful care of my girl... and for helping us through the most difficult chapter of our lives."
Just then, heavy, familiar paws padded across the stone foyer, followed by a joyful, muffled bark.
Old Bruno trotted out onto the front steps, his golden coat brushed to a brilliant shine, his tail wagging rhythmically as he approached us.
He nuzzled his nose gently against my knee before giving a happy little grunting sound, looking healthier and happier than he had in years.
"Look at you, buddy," I laughed, kneeling down to scratch his ears while my mother chuckled softly in delight.
Luca stood beside us, looking down at the happy scene with a quiet, profound sense of contentment that had eluded him for most of his life.
He reached down, gently resting his hand over mine where it rested on Bruno's golden back.
I looked up into his dark, steady eyes, reading the unspoken promise of a future built not on fear, high-society pretense, or hidden betrayal, but on unwavering loyalty, healing, and true love.

The past ghosts of the Moretti mansion had finally been laid to rest.
And as the morning sun broke fully through the autumn mist, illuminating the grand estate and the people we loved, I knew that our true story was only just beginning.
