Chapter 15 - The Sovereign’s Vow and the Sanctuary of Blackthorn

The final guest departed as the twilight deepened into a magnificent tapestry of indigo and gold over the endless ocean horizon.

A warm summer breeze rustled through the ancient oak trees that lined the perimeter of the estate.

Luca led Claire by the hand up the winding stone staircase to the highest tower of Blackthorn House.

At the top of the tower, a private rooftop garden blossomed with white jasmine and climbing roses, overlooking the entire coastline.

The chaotic violence, the poisonous betrayals, and the suffocating shadows that had plagued Blackthorn House for generations were finally gone forever.

Luca stood at the edge of the stone parapet, looking out over his vast, legitimate empire before turning his gaze back to the woman who had saved his soul.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, velvet-lined box.

Inside rested an exquisite antique ring, set with a flawless emerald surrounded by a circle of brilliant-cut diamonds.

Claire’s breath caught in her throat, her hand rising to her chest as she looked up into his intense, loving eyes.

“When you first walked into my room eight months ago, I was a dying tyrant waiting for the darkness to take me,” Luca said, his voice deep, gravelly, and brimming with profound emotion.

“Four guns were pointed at your heart, yet you refused to let go of my wrist.”

“You defied my deadliest rule, exposed the vipers in my own bloodline, and avenged your father’s memory with unmatched brilliance and courage.”

“You taught me that true power is not built on fear, but on honor, loyalty, and love.”

Luca dropped to one knee before her, holding the ring up toward the starlit sky.

“Claire Bennett, you are the only sovereign this house will ever answer to.”

“Will you marry me, and rule this new dawn by my side forever?”

Tears of pure, overwhelming happiness spilled over Claire’s cheeks, catching the golden glow of the garden lanterns.

She looked at the man who had traded his criminal crown for a life of purpose, justice, and absolute devotion to her.

“Yes,” Claire whispered, her voice filled with an unshakeable certainty.

“A thousand times, yes.”

Luca slid the ring onto her finger, rising to his feet and pulling her into an embrace that banished every shadow of their painful past.

His lips met hers in a passionate, breathtaking kiss as the cool ocean breeze swirled around them on the tower roof.

Far below, the massive iron gates of Blackthorn House stood tall and proud in the moonlight.

They were no longer closed to imprison a paranoid king or hide lethal secrets from the world.

They were closed only to protect the sacred peace, deep love, and enduring sanctuary that had finally been born within its walls.
