The Whisper of the Balcony

Chapter I: The Postlude in the Shadows (Before the Video)

The Vance estate stood tall atop the suburban hill like a proud, chilling fortress of Gothic-modern architecture. It appeared magnificent under the brilliant glow of imported Italian crystal chandeliers, yet deep within, the air was always thick with the suffocating scent of concealment. To Arthur Vance—a notorious tycoon in the business world—life was a chessboard where he absolutely had to be the one dictating checkmate. He controlled everything: from trillion-dollar contracts and stock market fluctuations to the very smiles and tears of those who resided within these walls.

However, six months ago, a rusted crack appeared in that perfect picture. Arthur’s wife, Lady Evelyn, suddenly vanished. The police turned the entire region upside down but ultimately closed the case with a vague conclusion: "Missing without known cause." Only Arthur knew the truth, and perhaps Elena—the young maid, whose loyalty was intertwined with the acute sensitivity of someone born in a land steeped in mysticism.

For weeks, Elena had been noticing strange occurrences. The sound of stealthy footsteps on the oak stairs at three in the morning. The whistling of the wind through windows tightly locked from the outside. The climax came when she accidentally discovered a torn medical file hidden deep within the basement. It was Arthur’s darkest secret: he had a young daughter named Lily. The poor child suffered from severe sleepwalking coupled with congenital hallucinatory syndrome. Fearing that the media and his corporate rivals would use a "flawed" child to smear the family name and tank the company's stock, Arthur announced to the world that Lily was studying abroad at an elite boarding school in England. In reality, she was confined to an isolated attic wing, living like a ghost omitted from the family genealogy.

Tonight, a late storm was brewing over the city. Distant thunder rumbled from the horizon, a fitting prelude to a chain of tragedies about to reach their final act.
