Chapter 15 - Epilogue: The Rooftop Revisited

Two years later, a gentle autumn rain was falling over downtown Manhattan.

The streets glistened beneath the glow of yellow streetlights and neon signs, reflecting the vibrant pulse of the city.

High above the pavement, standing on the exclusive, open-air rooftop lounge of a luxury hotel in the financial district, two people stood near the glass railing, sharing a single black umbrella.

I wore a simple silk dress and a diamond ring that caught the city lights, holding a warm cup of coffee in my hand.

Beside me, Chase held our two-year-old daughter, Elena, perched securely on his shoulders as she giggled and pointed at the flashing helicopter lights in the distance.

“Remember this place?” Chase asked softly, turning his head to look down at me with a warm, knowing smile.

I smiled back, leaning my head against his shoulder as the rain tapped gently against the umbrella above us.

“How could I ever forget?” I murmured.

“That was the night I met a tired stranger who changed my entire world.”

Chase reached down, taking my free hand in his, intertwining our fingers tightly.

“And that was the night,” Chase whispered, pressing a tender kiss to my forehead, “that I found my home.”
