Chapter 8 - A New Reign

Six months later. The Solmere Hotel was thriving more than it ever had in the history of the company. Under Charlotte’s brilliant leadership, the empire had expanded across three new continents. She wasn’t just a rich heiress anymore; she was a respected, feared, and beloved CEO.

Arthur Sterling had been sentenced to life in federal prison without the possibility of parole. Victoria Sterling, left with absolutely no money and completely blacklisted from high society, was last seen working the night shift at a cheap diner on the edge of town, finally learning what it meant to actually work for a living.

It was late in the evening. Charlotte stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows of the top-floor executive suite, looking out over the glowing city skyline. She wore a sharp, elegant white business suit, holding a glass of aged whiskey. The door behind her softly clicked open. She didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. The scent of expensive cologne and the quiet, confident footsteps were unmistakably his.

Julian Vance walked up behind her, slipping his arms naturally around her waist. He rested his chin gently on her shoulder, looking out at the city with her. “I just saw the quarterly earnings report,” Julian murmured, his deep voice sending a familiar shiver down her spine. “You crushed my investment firm’s profits this quarter, Miss Vale. I might have to sue you.” Charlotte leaned back against his solid chest, a genuine, warm smile lighting up her face. “You can try, Mr. Vance. But I have an incredibly ruthless lawyer.”

Julian chuckled softly, turning her around so she faced him. His gray eyes were soft, filled with a deep, profound love that he only ever showed to her. He reached into his tailored pocket and pulled out a small, velvet box. Charlotte’s breath caught in her throat. “We took back your empire,” Julian said quietly, his intense gaze locking onto hers. “Now, I think it’s time we build a new one. Together.”

He opened the box, revealing a breathtaking, flawless diamond ring. “Marry me, Charlotte. Let’s conquer the rest of the world.” Charlotte looked from the ring to the man who had stood by her through her darkest, most dangerous hour. She didn’t need to think about it. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him down into a deep, passionate kiss. “Yes,” she whispered against his lips. They stood together in the highest tower of the city, completely untouchable. The poor young woman who had been dragged across the lobby floor was gone forever. In her place stood a Queen, and she finally had everything she deserved.
