Chapter 4 - The Siege Of The Estate: Commander Vance Takes Control

The heavy oak doors of the grand Bellandi library rattled violently as Commander Vance and his elite tactical team breached the main hallway outside.
Without waiting for an invitation, Vance used a heavy master key card to unlock the deadbolt Vincent had just secured from the inside.
The heavy wooden door swung open smoothly, revealing Vance in full tactical gear, flanked by four heavily armed security operatives holding automatic carbines.
“Perimeter is locked down, Mr. Bellandi. All estate gates are sealed, and no one gets in or out without my direct clearance,” Vance reported sharply, stepping into the room.
Vincent nodded approvingly, gesturing toward Serena and Damien, who looked like trapped animals cornered by a pack of hungry wolves in the middle of a forest.
“Secure these two. Cuff them and place them in the subterranean holding room beneath the west wing,” Vincent ordered without a trace of emotion in his voice.
Damien immediately dropped to his knees, sobbing hysterically and begging for mercy as two massive security guards hauled him up by his arms.
“Vincent, please! I have a family! I have a wife and kids! Don’t do this to me over a corporate dispute!” Damien wailed as they dragged him toward the hallway.
Serena didn’t scream or cry; she simply glared at Vincent with pure, venomous hatred as the guards slapped heavy steel handcuffs around her delicate wrists.
“You’ll never survive what’s coming, Vincent. The board will destroy you before the sun sets tomorrow,” Serena hissed as they hauled her away into the dim corridor.
Once the heavy oak doors closed behind them, leaving Vincent and Vance alone in the sprawling library, the intelligence commander stepped closer to his employer.
“We intercepted an outgoing encrypted transmission from the landline here just before we breached the front doors,” Vance reported quietly, handing Vincent a small data tablet.
Vincent looked down at the screen, which displayed a string of digital code and an IP address originating from somewhere within the financial district downtown.
“Can we trace it?” Vincent asked, his eyes narrowing as he analyzed the complex sequence of cryptographic markers on the display.
“Already did, sir. The signal bounced through three different offshore servers in the Cayman Islands before terminating at a private penthouse suite owned by Sterling Capital,” Vance replied.
Vincent’s expression darkened instantly at the mention of Sterling Capital, one of the most ruthless private equity firms operating on the global market today.
“Sterling Capital… That’s the firm trying hostilely to acquire our shipping logistics subsidiary through backdoor stock manipulation,” Vincent realized, connecting the missing dots.
“Precisely. And according to Eleanor’s encrypted files you pulled up earlier, someone inside our own family has been feeding them internal operational data for over three years,” Vance added grimly.
Vincent walked over to the mahogany desk, picked up the old micro SD memory card Eleanor had hidden behind the photo, and handed it to Vance.
“Run this through the forensics lab immediately. I want every frame of that security footage enhanced, amplified, and backed up across three secure off-site servers,” Vincent instructed.
“Consider it done, Mr. Bellandi. What about Miss Emma? Should we relocate her to a secure safehouse off the estate grounds?” Vance asked professionally.
“Not yet. The estate is secure for now, but double the guard detail around the nursery. No one gets within a hundred feet of my daughter without my explicit written approval,” Vincent ordered.
“Understood. I’ll post two men outside her door and set up motion-triggered thermal cameras along the perimeter corridors,” Vance confirmed, turning toward the exit.
Before Vance could step out of the room, Vincent’s secure satellite phone buzzed aggressively against his thigh, demanding his immediate attention once again.
Vincent pulled the device out, glanced at the encrypted incoming number, and pressed the accept button with a firm, decisive motion of his thumb.
“Mr. Bellandi, I hope you’re enjoying the little scavenger hunt we’ve set up for you today,” a smooth, polished voice spoke over the secure channel.
Vincent gripped the edge of the mahogany desk so hard his knuckles turned completely white, fighting down the sudden surge of boiling rage inside him.
“Your little syndicate is running out of time, whoever you are. My men already traced your last transmission to Sterling Capital’s downtown penthouse,” Vincent countered coldly.
The man on the other end laughed softly, completely unfazed by the threat of corporate espionage exposure or federal investigation.
“Tracing an IP address in the financial district is child’s play, Vincent. You think we’d leave our front door unlocked for an amateur detective like you?” the voice mocked smoothly.
“If you touch my daughter or anyone else in my family, I will personally dismantle your entire firm brick by brick until there’s nothing left to bury,” Vincent warned lethally.
“We don’t need to touch your family, Vincent. Your family is already destroying itself from the inside out. Just ask your dear cousin Damien what he signed away last night,” the caller teased.

Before Vincent could demand clarification, the line went dead with a sharp click, leaving him staring down at the dark screen of his satellite phone in absolute frustration.
The conspiracy was much deeper, much darker, and much closer to the heart of the Bellandi empire than he had ever dared to imagine in his worst nightmares.
