Chapter 8 - Breach At Midnight: Infiltrating The Cliffside Villa

The inflatable military-grade Zodiac boat sliced silently through the choppy, freezing Mediterranean swells, guided only by night-vision optics and satellite GPS coordinates.

Vincent and Vance sat shoulder-to-shoulder in the bouncing craft, their faces painted with matte black camouflage, completely concealed by the pitch-black darkness of the midnight hour.

Towering above them on the jagged coastline loomed the massive stone cliffs of the De Luca estate, cutting a dark, menacing silhouette against the starlit sky.

“Sea cave entrance is fifty meters ahead, just past the breakwater rocks,” Vance whispered quietly over the rhythmic roar of the crashing waves.

The pilot of the Zodiac navigated the small craft deftly through a narrow fissure in the rock face, entering a cavernous, pitch-dark sea cave that smelled of salt and ancient stone.

They cut the outboard motor and drifted silently toward a rusted iron ladder bolted to the wet stone wall of the subterranean grotto.

“Up we go,” Vincent commanded softly, slinging his carbine over his shoulder and gripping the cold rungs of the ladder with his tactical gloves.

They climbed rapidly in single file, ascending thirty feet above the water level until they reached a heavy, discreet steel access hatch set into the stone ceiling of the cave.

Vance pulled a compact electronic bypass device from his tactical pouch, pressing the metallic prongs against the digital keypad mounted beside the hatch.

A soft series of electronic beeps echoed in the quiet cave, followed by a sharp pneumatic hiss as the heavy locking bolts retracted into the door frame.

With a gentle push, Vance swung the hatch open, revealing the dim, dust-moted interior of the Bellandi estate’s hidden wine cellar.

They slipped through the opening one by one, dropping silently onto the cool flagstone floor of the cellar and securing the hatch behind them.

“Perimeter sensors didn’t pick us up. We’re inside clean,” Vance whispered, checking his tactical wrist terminal for active thermal signatures.

Vincent drew his suppressed carbine, leading the way toward the heavy oak staircase that led up into the main living quarters of the cliffside villa.

As they crept stealthily up the stone steps, muffled voices echoed from the grand salon directly above them, breaking the eerie silence of the sprawling mansion.

“Julian wants confirmation that the Bellandi shipping lines are fully transferred by morning, or he’s cutting our commission,” a gruff, heavily accented mercenary voice complained in the hallway.

“Relax, mate. Sterling Capital is already executing the final digital signatures from Zurich. The empire is practically ours,” a second voice replied dismissively.

Vincent exchanged a sharp glance with Vance, signaling the exact moment to strike and dismantle the inner circle of Julian’s mercenary guard.

With sudden, explosive speed, Vincent kicked open the heavy oak cellar doors and burst into the grand hallway with his carbine raised.

“Drop your weapons! Hands on your heads, right now!” Vincent roared, his voice echoing off the vaulted ceilings with absolute authority.

The two guards spun around in sheer panic, reaching instinctively for the sidearms holstered at their hips before they even realized what was happening.

Vance moved with lethal precision, firing two non-lethal, high-velocity rubber baton rounds from his specialized shotgun attachment directly into their chests.

Both mercenaries collapsed instantly to the polished marble floor, gasping for air and dropping their firearms with loud clatters that echoed through the empty hallway.

Vincent stepped forward, kicking their weapons away into the shadows and pinning one of the guards down with the heavy tread of his combat boot.

“Where is Julian Bellandi?” Vincent demanded, pressing the barrel of his carbine lightly against the terrified guard’s forehead.

“He’s… he’s in the master study at the end of the east wing,” the guard stammered, his eyes wide with absolute terror.

Vincent didn’t waste another second; he left the guards secured on the floor under Vance’s watchful eye and sprinted down the long, opulent hallway toward the master study.

The final confrontation with the ghost of the Bellandi family was only seconds away, and Vincent was ready to settle every score in blood and justice.
