Chapter 7 - The Unveiling of the Untouched Heart

The kiss deepened, turning from exploratory hunger into an urgent, consuming wildfire. Dominic’s strong hands slid from my cheek down to my waist, lifting me effortlessly across his lap so that I straddled his hips on the leather sofa. The sheer physical power of him—the heavy corded muscle, the absolute authority radiating from every line of his body—made my head spin.
When his lips trailed down from my mouth to the sensitive hollow of my throat, a soft gasp escaped my lips, my fingers tangling instinctively into the dark waves of his hair.
“Norah,” he murmured against my skin, his voice thick with restraint and fierce desire. “Are you certain? There’s no turning back once I claim you. You will be mine—entirely, irreversibly mine.”
“I’ve never belonged to anyone,” I whispered, my voice trembling with a mixture of raw vulnerability and intoxicating liberation. “Please... make me yours.”
Hearing those words broke the last shred of Dominic’s ironclad control. He stood up in one fluid, powerful motion, scooping me effortlessly into his arms as if I weighed nothing at all. I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck, burying my face against his broad shoulder as he carried me out of the library and up the sweeping staircase toward the master suite.
The bedroom was dark, illuminated only by the pale, silvery moonlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the roaring ocean. Dominic laid me gently down across the center of the vast, king-sized bed, his dark eyes burning down into mine with an intensity that felt like a physical weight.
As he slowly began to shed his clothes, the moonlight caught the pale, jagged scars crisscrossing his chest and shoulders—silent testamants to the brutal, violent world he ruled. For any other woman, those scars might have been a warning sign, a reason to flee in terror. But for me, they were proof of survival. They matched the invisible scars carved onto my own soul by years of grief, exhaustion, and lonely devotion.
When Dominic slid onto the bed beside me, leaning over my frame like a shadow cast by the moon, his touch was surprisingly reverent. His large, calloused hands traced the contours of my face, my shoulders, and the curve of my waist with slow, deliberate precision, as though memorizing a map he intended to keep forever.
“You said no man had ever touched you,” Dominic whispered, his breath warm against my lips. “Let me show you what you’ve been missing, Norah.”

His mouth met mine in a kiss that was both tender and intensely demanding. Every stroke of his hands, every shift of his body against mine, stripped away another layer of the cold, armored isolation I had carried for a decade. When he finally claimed me, the sharp pang of physical pain was instantly swallowed by a wave of pure, overwhelming warmth, a sensation of absolute completion that brought hot, silent tears prickling to the eyes.
I wasn't invisible anymore. I wasn't the tired caretaker of a dying past or the lonely auditor buried in a basement cubicle. I was cherished, possessed, and worshiped with a fierce, unwavering devotion by the most dangerous man in the city.
