Chapter 12 - The Breach of Hangar 12 and Mara’s Desperate Stand

The massive corrugated metal doors of Hangar 12 were pulled halfway open, casting a stark rectangle of blinding white light across the wet tarmac.

Inside, the Gulfstream G650 sat gleaming under the overhead halogen fixtures, its jet engines humming with a deep, vibrating resonance that made the concrete floor tremble beneath their boots.

Sebastian, Nick, and Valerie approached the open hangar door with tactical precision, moving in a tight, silent formation through the freezing pre-dawn drizzle.

As they stepped over the threshold into the cavernous interior of the hangar, the heavy iron footsteps of armed guards echoed sharply from behind a stack of hydraulic equipment crates.

"Halt! Federal jurisdiction! Nobody move!" a harsh voice shouted, and four men in tactical gear stepped out from the shadows with assault rifles raised.

Before Sebastian could even draw his weapon, Nick Vance moved with astonishing, veteran speed, firing two precise shots that shattered the overhead halogen fixtures above the guards.

Darkness plunged the hangar into sudden, disorienting shadows, broken only by the flashing tactical lights mounted beneath Nick and Sebastian’s weapons.

"Down!" Sebastian roared, shoving Valerie hard behind the thick steel housing of a forklift truck just as heavy automatic gunfire chewed up the concrete where they had stood a second prior.

The hangar erupted into absolute chaos.

Muzzle flashes strobed through the dark space like jagged bolts of lightning, accompanied by the deafening roar of ricocheting bullets and shouting mercenaries.

Sebastian didn't hesitate; he vaulted over the fork lift housing, returning fire with lethal, pinpoint accuracy that neutralized two of the tactical guards in rapid succession.

Nick flanked the remaining two mercenaries, dropping them with calculated leg shots before they could reposition behind the aircraft’s landing gear.

In less than thirty seconds, the gunfight was over, leaving the hangar smelling of cordite, burnt gunpowder, and hot engine exhaust.

"Clear!" Nick called out sharply, lowering his smoking weapon and sweeping his tactical light across the blood-stained concrete floor.

Sebastian didn't waste a single second celebrating the quick victory; his gray eyes locked onto the open boarding stairs leading directly up into the cabin of the Gulfstream jet.

"Mara!" Sebastian’s voice boomed across the open hangar, rich with a chilling, predatory authority that made the metal bulkheads of the aircraft ring.

"Come out before I burn this bird down around you!"
