Chapter 4 - The Iron BoardroomThe grand boardroom of the Vance Conglomerate was a cathedral of power, featuring a massive oval table cut from a single piece of dark obsidian. Sixteen high-ranking board members sat in total silence, their eyes fixed on the empty leather chair at the head of the table, waiting for the storm to arrive.

The heavy double doors swung open, and Marcus Vance strode in, his presence immediately sucking the air out of the room. He didn't take his seat; instead, he walked to the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking down at the harbor where three massive container ships bearing the Vance crest were currently docking.
"The Bradsford liquidation is complete," Marcus announced without turning around, his hands clasped firmly behind his back. "As of thirty minutes ago, their shares in the western terminal have been absorbed into our primary portfolio. The board will now vote on the immediate termination of all logistical contracts tied to their remaining shell companies."
An older board member, Arthur Pendelton, cleared his throat nervously, his hands shuffling a stack of financial reports. "Mr. Vance, with all due respect, terminating those contracts so abruptly will cause a temporary disruption in our supply chain. The markets are already volatile due to the rumors surrounding your wife's health registry."
Marcus turned slowly, his eyes locking onto Pendelton with a terrifying, predatory intensity that made the older man visibly flinch.
"My wife’s health registry is a matter of state security," Marcus said, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper that echoed off the glass walls. "And any member of this board who refers to those rumors again will find their personal portfolios audited by the same federal team that just dismantled the Bradsfords. Am I making myself clear, Arthur?"
Pendelton swallowed hard, his face turning an ash-gray color as he quickly nodded his head in compliance. "Perfectly clear, sir. Crystal clear."

Marcus walked to the head of the table, slamming a thick leather-bound folder onto the obsidian surface. The sound cracked through the room like a pistol shot.
"We are not here to debate," Marcus commanded, leaning forward, his hands resting on the table as he surveyed the terrified executives. "We are here to execute. My wife has provided the roadmap for the complete restructuring of our maritime interests. You will follow it to the letter, or you will be replaced before the market closes."
