Chapter 13 - The Final Strike Against the Navarro Cartel

The sprawling industrial railyard on the outskirts of Chicago was quiet under the pale glow of a crescent moon.
Matthew Rossi stood beside Lorenzo Bianchi near the open door of a freight container, watching a heavily armed tactical team secure the perimeter.
The remaining leadership of the Navarro cartel from Miami had foolishly attempted one final, desperate coordinated strike against Lorenzo's shipping networks.
They believed that by splitting Lorenzo's attention between Sienna and their cartel assets, they could reclaim their lost territory in the Midwest.
Instead, they walked directly into a meticulously planned trap designed to eliminate the threat once and for all.
"All sectors are secure, boss," the lead tactical operative reported, jogging up to Lorenzo and handing over a secured satellite phone.
"The Navarro lieutenants have surrendered, and their primary weapons cache has been successfully confiscated without any civilian casualties."
Lorenzo took the phone, his expression completely unreadable as he pressed the speaker button to listen to the terrified voice of Don Navarro calling from Florida.
"Bianchi... you son of a bitch, this isn't over," the aging cartel boss snarled through the static-filled connection from Miami.
"My men will keep coming until your entire empire is burning to the ground around your feet."
"Your men are currently tied up in federal custody and Chicago holding cells, Navarro," Lorenzo replied, his voice steady and icy calm.
"Three years ago, on a humid night in July, your cartel took something precious from me that could never be replaced."
"For one thousand and ninety-five days, I lived in a frozen world of pure vengeance, waiting for the exact moment to eradicate your bloodline."
"Tonight, that debt is finally paid in full, and your name will be erased from every port and shipping lane in North America."
Before the cartel boss could scream another curse, Lorenzo pressed the red disconnect button, ending the phone call and severing the Navarro syndicate forever.

He handed the phone back to Matthew, feeling a massive, suffocating weight lift off his chest for the first time in three agonizing years.
The war that started with a car bomb on Michigan Avenue was finally over, and the ghosts of the past could finally rest in peace.
