Chapter 14 - Cleaning House

The house felt different when it was just Delilah and Noah. It felt lighter.

Over the summer, Delilah and I spent our weekends completely redecorating the place. We tore up the carpets Margaret had stained and laid down beautiful hardwood floors. We painted the dark, gloomy walls a bright, cheerful yellow.

Noah got the dinosaur-themed bedroom he had always dreamed of. He stopped carrying his stuffed toy everywhere he went, leaving it on his bed because he finally understood that he wouldn't have to pack up and leave in the middle of the night ever again.
