Chapter 9 - THE FINAL CONFRONTATION IN THE EXECUTIVE SUITE

David stared across the expansive mahogany desk at me, his eyes bloodshot and unhinged with desperate rage as the rain lashed against the massive floor-to-ceiling windows behind him. "You really don't know when to quit, do you, Elena?" he rasped, taking a slow, menacing step forward with the steel pipe dragging along the marble floor.

"Game over, David," I said steadily, keeping my hand resting firmly on the enter key as the monitor flashed a bright green notification: Transfer Complete. 100% Uploaded. "Federal investigators already have every single file, shell company, and offshore routing number linked to Sterling & Vance."

David let out a harsh, bitter laugh, raising the steel pipe higher as he closed the remaining distance between us. "You think a digital file is going to stop Marcus Sterling? By morning, you won't even exist on paper, let alone in a federal database."

Before David could swing the pipe toward the desk, the office door flew open again, and Viktor stepped into the room, casually tossing a bruised and battered security guard aside like a ragdoll.

"I told you thirty seconds, David," Viktor said coldly, cracking his knuckles with a menacing grin. "Your time is officially up."

David spun around, swinging the steel pipe in a vicious arc toward Viktor’s head. Viktor ducked effortlessly under the swing, stepping inside David's guard with blinding speed and delivering a devastating palm strike directly to his chest that sent David crashing hard against the glass partition.

As David slumped unconscious against the shattered glass, the private elevator doors at the end of the hallway chimed again, and the sound of approaching sirens began to wail faintly from the street far below through the stormy night.

"That's the federal task force," Viktor said, glancing down at his watch with a satisfied nod. "Looks like your data drop woke up the right people, Elena."

Footsteps echoed frantically down the executive hallway, but it wasn't the police; it was Marcus Sterling himself, flanked by two corporate attorneys, bursting into the office with an expression of absolute panic.

"What in God's name is happening here?" Marcus shouted, his face turning an ugly shade of purple as he took in the ruined office, the unconscious security guards in the hallway, and me standing calmly behind his desk.

"Good evening, Marcus," I said, leaning back in his executive leather chair with a cool, untouchable smile. "I believe you've been looking for your missing offshore accounts."

Marcus froze, his eyes darting from me to the blinking transmission screen on his desk, the color draining entirely from his face as the brutal realization of total defeat settled over him.
