Chapter 7 - The Nanny Cam Trap
Two tense days dragged by.
Ethan's private investigator was working around the clock, but they still needed concrete evidence to break the engagement without Victoria taking half of his assets in a messy legal battle.
They needed the nanny cam footage.
On Friday afternoon, Ethan intentionally left his briefcase in the drawing room near the baby's crib.
"I have a sudden emergency at the office," Ethan announced loudly in the foyer.
"I'll be home late, Victoria. Please keep an eye on Leo."
"Of course, darling," Victoria smiled sweetly.
Ethan gave Sarah a knowing look before walking out the front door.
Sarah immediately retreated to the kitchen, opening her laptop.
Ethan had synced the hidden cameras to a private network that Sarah could access.
She clicked on the feed for the drawing room.
On the screen, Leo was babbling happily in his crib.
A few minutes later, Victoria walked into the frame.
She didn't look sweet anymore.
Victoria paced around the room, speaking into her cheap burner phone.
Sarah turned the volume all the way up.
"I told you, I'll have the money next week!" Victoria hissed into the phone.
"He's signing the prenup on Sunday."
There was a pause as she listened to the caller.
"I don't care what you have to do," Victoria snapped. "Just keep the real Victoria Vance quiet until I get the ring on my finger."
Sarah gasped quietly in the kitchen.
She hit the record button on her screen.
"Once I'm married, I'll send her to an institution if I have to," the fake Victoria continued.
She walked over to the crib, glaring down at the innocent baby.
"And this little brat won't be a problem much longer either," she muttered to the baby.
"Once I have the power of attorney, boarding school in Switzerland will take him off my hands forever."
Sarah's blood boiled.
She saved the video file and immediately forwarded it to Ethan's secure email.
The fake Victoria hung up the phone and walked out of the room.
May you like
Sarah slammed her laptop shut.
They finally had her.
