Chapter 11 - The Crumbling Empire

Harrison stumbled back from the table.
“Clare gave you this?”
“Clare is in the hospital,” Eleanor said sharply.
“She almost lost her baby because of the stress you put her through.”
Harrison didn't ask how his wife was.
He didn't ask about his unborn son.
He only looked at the financial documents.
“I can fix this,” he muttered, pacing the room.
“I can give you a buyout, Eleanor. Ten million. Cash.”
“You don't have ten million in cash,” Arthur pointed out. “You’ve drained the liquid assets.”
“I’ll sell the Lexington property!” Harrison shouted, losing control.
“You can't sell anything,” Eleanor said.
“Because tomorrow morning at 8:00 AM, I am presenting this will to the board of directors.”
Harrison lunged across the table, grabbing the folder.
Eleanor didn't flinch.
“That’s a copy,” she said simply.
Harrison froze.
“The original is already with the SEC, along with the proof of your embezzlement.”
Harrison dropped the folder as if it burned him.
He backed toward the door.
“You’re bluffing.”
“Try to board that plane to Zurich on Friday, Harrison. See what happens at customs.”
Harrison turned and bolted from the restaurant.
Eleanor let out a long breath and looked at Arthur.
“Will it work?” she asked.
May you like
Arthur nodded.
“By tomorrow afternoon, he won't be able to buy a cup of coffee.”
