Chapter 8 - THE ULTIMATE CHOICE
Claire sat in a small cafe, the file in front of her. She could leak it all. She could destroy Evelyn and everyone else who had enabled her. It would be justice, in a sense. Or, she could use it to force a settlement—to ensure that Lily’s future was untouchable, to ensure that no one could ever again have power over them.
She realized that the cycle of power and revenge was what had made Evelyn who she was. If she chose the path of destruction, she would be no better. But if she did nothing, the secrets would remain, and the people responsible would remain in power.
She made her choice. She wouldn't destroy them. She would expose them, legally and transparently. She contacted a reputable investigative journalist, one who was known for integrity, not sensationalism. She gave them everything.
