Chapter 15 - The New Dynasty and the Shadows Ahead

The tactical team had been neutralized, the building's lockdown was overridden, and the Vance boardroom had transformed into a bizarre summit between two warring generations of criminals and survivors.
Viktor sat comfortably at the edge of the conference table, pouring himself a glass of Julian's Macallan whiskey, while Julian stood guard near the window with his pistol holstered but within arm's reach.
Elena remained standing at the head of the table, her hands resting flat against the obsidian surface.
"I don't negotiate with terrorists or escaped convicts," Elena stated flatly, breaking the tense silence.
"Who said anything about terrorism?" Viktor chuckled softly, taking a sip of the amber whiskey.
"Christian was a liability. He ran this empire like a corner drugstore, drawing federal heat and alienating our international partners. I didn't come back to destroy Vance Enterprises, Elena. I came back to purge the weak links."
He set the crystal glass down, sliding a folded legal document across the table toward her.
"What is this?" Elena asked, eyeing the papers suspiciously.
"My formal abdication of operational control," Viktor replied casually.

Elena stared at the legal document in absolute disbelief.
"And what do you get out of this?" she demanded, narrowing her eyes.
"I get to retire to a private island in the Mediterranean with an unlimited expense account, knowing that the Vance name is finally being wielded by someone with actual teeth," Viktor smiled, standing up slowly and buttoning his heavy woolen overcoat.
He walked toward the heavy mahogany doors, pausing just before stepping out into the hallway.
He turned his head slightly, casting one final, dark look back at Elena.
"Rule wisely, Madam CEO," Viktor whispered.
"Because the wolves always come back for the crown."
With that final warning, Viktor slipped out into the shadows, disappearing as quietly as he had arrived.
Elena looked down at the abdication papers on the obsidian table, then slowly turned her head to meet Julian’s steady, devoted gaze.
The storm had passed.

The final enemy had vanished into the night.
And as the first rays of morning sunlight broke over the Manhattan skyline, Elena Vance stood tall upon her obsidian throne, knowing that she was no longer a prisoner in a gilded cage—she was the master of the world.
