Chapter 2 - The Siege Of The Cole Estate And The First Wave Of Enforcers

The heavy double doors of the Cole estate ballroom didn't just open; they were forcefully unlocked from the outside by a synchronized team of men dressed in tactical black gear, their faces hidden behind matte ballistic masks.

Panic erupted among the fifty high-society guests, several women screaming as they scrambled backward against the velvet curtains, dropping crystal champagne flutes that shattered into glittering shards across the marble floor.

Adrian lunged forward, his face red with righteous indignation and growing dread as he pointed a trembling finger at the intruders.

“What the hell is the meaning of this?!” Adrian bellowed, attempting to project an aura of authority he no longer possessed.

“This is private property! I am Richard Cole’s son! I’ll have you all arrested and thrown into a federal hole before sunrise!”

None of the tactical operators even flinched.

They parted cleanly down the middle, creating a wide, unobstructed path through which a tall, imposing man in a charcoal-gray tailored suit walked into the room.

Dominic Moretti.

At thirty-eight, Dominic was the eldest of my five brothers, possessing an aura of quiet, devastating power that immediately sucked all the oxygen out of the room.

His sharp hazel eyes scanned the chaotic ballroom in a fraction of a second, noting the broken champagne glasses, the terrified guests cowering against the walls, and finally, my bruised, bleeding back visible through the slight tear in my silk blouse.

The temperature in the room dropped ten degrees.

Dominic didn't raise his voice, but every single person in the ballroom heard him clearly.

“Who touched her?” Dominic asked, his voice dead, flat, and carrying the terrifying weight of an executioner.

Richard Cole, billionaire patriarch of the Cole empire, stepped forward with an arrogant scoff, attempting to wave away the armed tactical team as if they were minor inconveniences.

“Listen to me, whoever you think you are,” Richard barked, straightening his silk tie.

“My family owns half the commercial real estate in this state! You’re trespassing on billion-dollar grounds, and if you don't clear these thugs out right now—interrupted by a sharp, metallic sound.”

Dominic didn't blink. With a subtle nod of his head, two tactical operatives stepped forward, grabbed Richard by his expensive suit jacket and belt, and slammed him face-first onto the banquet table, sending platters of hors d'oeuvres flying.

“Dad!” Adrian shrieked, making a panicked move forward.

Before Adrian could take two steps, a second heavy-set man in a sharp suit strode through the open front doors, tossing a thick leather briefcase onto the floor with a heavy thud.

Matteo Moretti.

At thirty-six, Matteo controlled international shipping lanes and port authorities across three continents, and right now, his face was carved out of granite.

“Security forces have locked down the entire perimeter,” Matteo announced coldly, pulling a cigar from his breast pocket without lighting it.

“Airspace above the estate is restricted. No one enters, no one leaves, and no digital communications are getting past our signal jammers.”

Margaret Cole clutched her pearls, her face turning ghastly pale.

“This is kidnapping! This is domestic terrorism!” she screamed hysterically.

“We are the Coles! We contribute millions to political campaigns!”

“You contributed to the wrong family,” a third voice echoed smoothly from the entrance.

Luca Moretti walked into the ballroom adjusting his cuffs, looking every bit the ruthless, undefeated criminal defense attorney who had dismantled prosecutors for breakfast.

“Every single contract, deed, and asset held by Cole Enterprises has just been flagged for emergency judicial review,” Luca stated, pulling a sheaf of legal documents from his pocket.

“As of four minutes ago, our emergency injunctions have frozen every bank account, trust, and credit line your family owns.”

Vanessa Hart tried to quietly slip toward the side exit, her silver designer dress rustling against the wall, hoping to disappear into the background.

A fourth man stepped into her path, blocking the doorway with cold, calculating precision.

Gabriel Moretti.

The forensic accountant smiled thinly, holding up a tablet that displayed every financial transfer Adrian had made to Vanessa’s secret offshore accounts over the past eight months.

“Going somewhere, Ms. Hart?” Gabriel asked smoothly.

“According to our preliminary tax fraud audit, every dime Adrian spent on your apartments and jewelry was embezzled directly from corporate subsidiary accounts—which means you’re an accessory to federal grand larceny.”

Vanessa let out a strangled gasp, stumbling backward until she tripped over a velvet ottoman and landed hard on her designer dress.

Finally, the youngest of my brothers, Nico, stepped out from the shadows near the winding staircase, holding a micro-drone controller in his hands with a dangerous, wolfish grin.

“And just for the record,” Nico chuckled softly, looking directly at Adrian.

“We have high-definition footage of every single guest recording what happened in this ballroom tonight... including the thirty lashes you delivered to my little sister.”

Adrian looked around the room, realizing with absolute, paralyzing horror that his entire life, his family’s dynasty, and his billion-dollar empire had just been completely dismantled in less than five minutes.
