Chapter 4 - The Surrender Of The Billionaire Patriarch And The Final Signature

The golden pen sat on the glass coffee table like a tiny, gleaming executioner’s sword, its metallic reflection mocking the terrified billionaires who had ruled the city’s high society for decades.
Richard Cole was finally allowed to stand up, his expensive suit ruined, his gray hair wildly disheveled as he rubbed his sore wrists where the operatives had held him.
He looked around the grand ballroom, his desperate eyes searching the faces of the fifty high-society guests who had spent years kissing his ring, curtsying to his wife, and laughing at his jokes.
Not a single person met his gaze.
Every single one of them had quietly pressed themselves flat against the walls, praying they wouldn't be noticed by the tactical team guarding the perimeter.
“Richard... don't sign it,” Margaret whispered from the floor, clutching her torn designer dress around her knees.
“We can fight this. We have connections... we have power!”
“Shut up, Margaret!” Richard roared, his voice cracking with sheer, unmitigated despair.
“Don't you see? There are no connections left! They own the banks, they own the judges, they own the state legislature! If we don't sign, we go to federal prison for the rest of our natural lives!”
Adrian stared at the thick stack of transfer deeds, his hands shaking so violently he could barely lift the pen.
“Elena... please,” Adrian choked out, looking up at me with watery, pathetic eyes.
“We were married. We had good times... remember? Have some mercy.”
I looked down at the man who had ordered me whipped thirty times in front of fifty people just an hour earlier—the man who had laughed while his mistress smiled at my humiliation.
“When I asked you where you were until three in the morning, you slapped me across the face,” I said, my voice carrying a quiet, devastating calm.
“When I asked you to stop sleeping with Vanessa in our bed, you called me a pathetic nobody. And tonight, you stood under this chandelier and watched me bleed while your mother cheered.”
I took a slow step closer, looking right down into his terrified face.
“Mercy is something you earn, Adrian. You spent years trading yours away for arrogance.”
Adrian swallowed hard, his throat working convulsively, before he picked up the golden pen.
With trembling fingers, he signed his name on the dotted line of the corporate transfer agreement, relinquishing his entire fifty-one percent controlling stake in Cole Enterprises directly to me.
Richard signed next, followed slowly and agonizingly by Margaret, who scrawled her signature while weeping openly onto the glass table.
Luca Moretti stepped forward, inspecting each signature with the practiced eye of a master litigator.
“Signatures verified and legally binding,” Luca announced, sliding the documents back into his leather briefcase with a crisp snap.
“As of right now, Elena Moretti-Cole is the sole owner, chairwoman, and majority shareholder of Cole Enterprises, valued at exactly 1.4 billion dollars.”
Gabriel Moretti tapped his tablet, and instantly, the massive projection screen above the ballroom flashed green.
‘TRANSFER COMPLETE. ASSETS SECURED.’
“What... what happens to us now?” Richard asked hoarsely, looking up at my brothers like a beaten dog.
Dominic Moretti adjusted the cuffs of his tailored suit, his face remaining as cold and impassive as stone.
“You are officially bankrupt,” Dominic stated plainly.
“Your accounts are frozen, your mansions are seized, your cars are impounded, and by morning, your names will be completely scrubbed from every corporate registry in the state.”
Nico smirked, stepping forward with his drone controller.
“And don't worry about packing a bag,” Nico added cheerfully.
“Federal marshals are waiting outside the front gates right now to take you all downtown for your preliminary booking hearings.”
Heavy footsteps echoed from the grand foyer as four uniformed federal agents marched into the ballroom, their badges gleaming under the lights.
“Richard Cole? Adrian Cole? Margaret Cole?” the lead federal marshal called out.
“You are under arrest for federal wire fraud, tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and corporate embezzlement.”
As the silver handcuffs were slapped onto the wrists of the billionaire patriarch and my trembling husband, they were hauled backward out of the ballroom, their expensive shoes dragging across the marble floor.
Vanessa Hart tried to crawl quietly toward the side doors once more, only to find Matteo Moretti standing directly in her path, blocking her exit with absolute, immovable authority.
“And where do you think you’re going, Ms. Hart?” Matteo rumbled darkly.
May you like
“You still have to explain to the IRS why you accepted four hundred thousand dollars in stolen corporate funds for apartments you never actually owned.”
Vanessa slumped against the wall, bursting into loud, hysterical tears as her high-society dreams evaporated into thin air.
