Chapter 11 - THE COLLAPSE OF THE BELLINI EMPIRE

The glass boardroom shattered into a chorus of chaotic whispers and frantic phone calls.

Board members stood up from their chairs in disbelief, their eyes darting between the projected digital scans of the 2021 contingency clause and Richard Bellini's ashen, trembling face.

Richard sat paralyzed in his leather armchair, his chest heaving as if he had just taken a physical blow to the ribs.

His chief legal counsel was already packing his briefcase with shaking hands, whispering urgent warnings about criminal liability and federal securities fraud.

"You're finished, Richard," Luca stated quietly, his voice cutting through the noise of the room like a razor blade.

"You can't do this to a founding family," Richard rasped, his voice cracking with utter desperation. "We built half the shipping infrastructure in this state alongside your father."

"You and your daughter tried to steal it back through extortion and fabricated perjury," Elena intervened, stepping forward from the podium with cold, unyielding composure. "The contract is ironclad, and the signatures are authentic."

Luca turned away from the podium and looked toward Daniel, who stood near the glass doors with a secure tablet in his hand.

"Lock down all Bellini logistics accounts immediately," Luca ordered crisply. "Notify the federal prosecutors handling the Mercer wire fraud case that Richard and Vanessa Bellini are officially co-conspirators in an interstate extortion scheme."

Before Richard could open his mouth to protest, two federal marshals, quietly summoned by Daniel ten minutes prior, stepped through the side doors of the boardroom.

They walked directly toward the billionaire tycoon, placing cold steel handcuffs around his wrists without a single word of hesitation.

As Richard was hauled out of the boardroom in absolute disgrace, the remaining directors turned their terrified eyes back toward Luca Moretti.

The Moretti syndicate had not only survived an internal corporate coup; it had swallowed its greatest rival whole before the morning trading bell even rang.

Upstairs in the east suite of the mansion, Vanessa heard the distant sirens wailing outside through the high double-paned windows.

She ran to the heavy oak door, slamming her fists against the wood until her knuckles bled, screaming into the empty hallway.

No one answered.

No one came to save her.

The empire she had spent two years scheming to conquer had evaporated into thin air in less than forty minutes.
