Chapter 20 - The Ultimate Vow

The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was breathtaking, glowing under the light of a thousand crystal chandeliers as New York’s elite gathered for what the tabloids were already calling The Wedding of the Decade.
It wasn't a rushed, secret corporate arrangement this time.
It was real.
The string quartet played a soft, classical melody as Sophie walked down the long aisle, her ivory lace train sweeping gracefully across the polished parquet floor.
She wore a custom-designed gown that radiated timeless elegance, her mother—healthy, smiling, and seated in the front row—wiping away a proud tear as she watched her daughter approach the altar.
Waiting at the end of the aisle stood Alexander, dressed in a sharp black tuxedo, his dark eyes fixed entirely on Sophie as if she were the only person in the crowded room.
When she finally reached him, Alexander took her hands in his, his fingers warm and steady.
"I thought I hired a fake wife to save a company," Alexander whispered softly, loud enough only for her to hear as the minister prepared to begin.
"Instead, you saved my life."
Sophie smiled, her eyes shining with unshed tears of pure happiness.
"And I thought I was taking a dangerous job to pay off medical bills," Sophie replied softly.
"Instead, I found my home."
As the minister pronounced them husband and wife and Alexander leaned down to seal their vows with a deep, passionate kiss, the thunderous applause of the ballroom echoed around them.
They had beaten Arthur Grant.
They had survived the corporate war, the secrets, and the ghosts of the past.
Yet, high above the city in the shadows of the Manhattan skyline, a silent storm was still gathering—waiting for the right moment to strike.

But as Sophie looked into Alexander's eyes, she knew one thing for certain:
Whatever came next, they would face it together.
