Chapter 20 - The Circle of Life

Many years later, a young woman stood on a wooden dock beside a calm, blue lake.

She was wearing a simple yellow sundress.

Her long, dark brown hair blew gently in the wind.

She was laughing, looking directly at the camera held by a handsome young man.

Beside her, an elderly man with kind blue eyes and silver-white hair sat in a wheelchair, smiling warmly.

It was Richard.

He was old now, his body frail, but his eyes were still as bright and full of love as ever.

Emily walked over to her father, kneeling beside his chair.

She was now a successful human rights lawyer, married with a beautiful family of her own.

"Are you warm enough, Dad?" she asked, adjusting the blanket over his lap.

"I am perfect, Emily," Richard smiled, patting her hand. "Never better."

They looked out over the lake.

They had built a beautiful life together.

A life that had started with a quiet knock on a heavy oak door in a glittering, cold ballroom.

A life that had been saved by a small girl with a sealed envelope.

Richard closed his eyes, listening to the laughter of his grandchildren playing on the grass behind him.

He felt the warm sun on his face.

He felt the presence of Sarah, watching over them from the quiet hills.

He had lived a full life.

He had loved. He had been loved.

And as he took a deep, peaceful breath, the billionaire knew that he was, indeed, the richest man in the world.
