Chapter 10 - The Manhattan Interception

The private airstrip outside Teterboro Airport shimmered under the pale moonlight as a sleek, twin-engine Gulfstream G650 sat idling on the tarmac, its turbine engines humming with suppressed power.

Inside the private terminal lounge, Julian Thorne paced back and forth across the polished marble floor, his expensive leather shoes clicking rhythmically against the stone.

He was visibly agitated, constantly checking his diamond-encrusted Rolex and barking impatient orders at his personal assistant, who was frantically typing away on a tablet.

"Where is the final wire transfer from the offshore accounts?!" Julian snapped, his voice sharp and grating.

"If that money doesn't clear before wheels-up, the Swiss bank will freeze the entire portfolio!"

"It's processing right now, Mr. Thorne," the assistant stammered, his hands shaking slightly as he stared at the glowing screen.

"The encrypted servers are experiencing heavy traffic, but the funds should—"

Before the assistant could finish his sentence, the overhead lights in the private terminal flickered violently and died, plunging the spacious lounge into absolute, suffocating darkness.

"What the hell?!" Julian shouted, stopping dead in his tracks. "Security! Where is airport security?!"

The only response was the heavy, rhythmic sound of military boots marching through the glass double doors of the terminal.

Four operatives in matte-black tactical gear surged into the room with terrifying, synchronized precision, ignoring the screaming airport staff and immediately sealing all exits.

Julian reached frantically into his suit jacket, fumbling for a concealed weapon, but before his fingers could even graze the grip, a heavy, gloved hand clamped around his wrist with bone-crushing force.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Julian," a cold, familiar voice echoed from the shadows of the unlit hallway.

Hadrian stepped out into the pale moonlight filtering through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, his long wool coat trailing behind him like the cloak of an executioner.

Julian froze, his eyes widening in sheer, unadulterated disbelief as he stared at the man he thought was thousands of miles away dealing with domestic family disputes.

"Hadrian?!" Julian choked out, struggling uselessly against the iron grip of the tactical operative holding his arm.

"How... how are you here? You're supposed to be in Chicago—you're supposed to be dealing with Clarissa!"

"Clarissa is currently enjoying the hospitality of my subterranean holding cells," Hadrian replied calmly, stepping closer until he stood mere feet from the terrified financier.

"And now, Julian, it’s time for you to join the family reunion."

"You're insane!" Julian shrieked, panic overriding his corporate composure as he thrashed wildly against his captors.

"You can't just abduct people! I am an international financier! The federal authorities—"

"The federal authorities are already reviewing the complete financial audit of your embezzlement schemes, courtesy of my personal forensic accountants," Hadrian interrupted smoothly, pulling a thick manila folder from his coat pocket and tossing it onto the lounge table.

"Every fraudulent wire transfer, every offshore shell company, every illegal asset seizure—it's all documented down to the last penny."

Julian stared at the folder in absolute horror, his knees buckling beneath him as the full, devastating reality of his situation finally crashed down upon his soul.

"Please, Hadrian," Julian whispered, his voice dropping into a desperate, pathetic plea.

"We can make a deal. Fifty million dollars. Transferrable to any account you choose. Just let me get on that plane. You'll never see me again."

Hadrian looked down at the man who had tried to destroy everything he had built, his expression as cold and unyielding as a slab of granite.

"Money?" Hadrian asked softly, echoing the exact words he had spoken to Dr. Alistair weeks prior.

"You still think everything in this world can be bought and sold, Julian. You have no idea what it actually costs to betray a father's trust."

He turned his back on the cowering financier and waved his hand dismissively to the waiting operatives.

"Bag him and throw him on the private jet," Hadrian commanded coldly.

"Not to take him to Europe, boys. Take him straight back to the Obsidian Estate. Let him join Clarissa in the dungeon."

May you like

"No! Please! Hadrian, have mercy!" Julian screamed as the heavy black hood was slammed over his head, cutting off his frantic pleas.

Hadrian stood in the quiet darkness of the terminal as the sound of struggling faded down the tarmac, knowing that the final loose end of his vengeance had finally been tied off for good.
